VISION STATEMENT
To offer peoples of all economic backgrounds the opportunity to enjoy the amazing splendors and rich cultures of Northern Saskatchewan in a truly Canadian fashion.
COMPANY HISTORY
Clearwater Canoeing began with a dream; a dream to run rivers and travel lakes, with an open invitation for others to come and join in. This dream became a reality in the spring of 2007. The owners, Vinessa and Stacey, gave up their "real" jobs, and began the season with hopes of sharing their canoeing and wilderness knowledge with willing participants. All guides are certified to the highest standards including Royal Lifesaving Society Swift Water Rescue and Wilderness First Aid. Other certifications may include Canadian Heritage Interpretation, Service Best and Paddle Canada certifications.
Vinessa Currie-Foster
Owner/Operator
Vinessa is a graduate from Lakeland College's diploma program in "Adventure Tourism and Outdoor Recreation (ATOR)". She graduated college with an even bigger passion for canoeing and with hopes of one day running her own guiding company. And guiding runs deep in the Currie family genes, with over a hundred years of experience in the industry. Vinessa has spent numerous years working in remote fishing lodges in the north. After graduating from college, she spent over two years working as the marketing director for Northern Saskatchewan Tourism. While working at this job, Vinessa traveled to a multitude of trade shows and talked to numerous owners of outfitting companies across North America. She is a life long Saskatchewan resident and has a great love for the province and its rich history. Vinessa began one of the biggest adventures life has to offer last summer when she said "I do" to her soul-mate, Les.
Stacey Gross
Owner/Operator
Stacey is also an ATOR graduate. She left school with visions of running whitewater around the world. Well, she made it as far as Grande Cache, Alberta where she worked as a class 3 River Guide. Spending summers as a raft guide, she learnt to hone her river reading skills and to make sound judgments in sticky situations. The canoe, and Northern Saskatchewan, kept calling her name, though. Although she loved the big mountain water, she traded her raft for a canoe and went to work as a guide for a Northern Saskatchewan canoeing company. Stacey worked on her canoeing skills and tried to learn all she could. She took a summer off of guiding and spent time running trips with friends in Alberta and B.C. Stacey lives in Hinton, AB in the off-season and is a St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid and CPR Instructor and a full-time Mom to Isaac and Aven.
